Membership The highest authority in our local union is the membership. They have the final say on all matters and may overturn decisions of other elected bodies (see diagram). Membership meetings are held no less than four times a year. Additional membership meetings may be called by the President or upon petition by members.

Workplace Council This group consists of all the elected positions in the local: Executive Board, Grievance Committee, and Stewards. It is the second highest authority in the local.

Stewards Stewards are the eyes and ears of our local union. They handle on-the-job problems (investigations), communications, and distribution of materials. Our union contract gives us one steward and an alternate steward for every 40 members. Our union contract gives stewards 5 hours each month of paid time available off the job to do the work of the union. Stewards are elected every three years. The President may appoint stewards to fill openings with the approval of the Workplace Committee. Stewards are also members of the Workplace Council and report to the President.

Executive Board The Executive Board (EBd) consists of 9 members: President Vice-President Recording Secretary Financial Secretary/Treasurer Trustees (3) Sergeant at Arms Guide
All are elected every three years. They are members of the Workplace Council and meet prior to the Workplace Council to help set an agenda for those meetings. The Executive Board is the third highest body in the local. The President handles the day-to-day operation of the local, works full-time for the union, and is the union's primary spokesperson to the University Administration.

Grievance Committee Chair and Members The Grievance Committee Chair and members are elected every three years and sit on the Workplace Council. The chair oversees other grievance committee members, reports to the President, and is a member of the Contract Bargaining Team.

Bargaining Team Six months prior to contract negotiations, members elect a team to negotiate a new contract with BU. In addition, the President and the Chair of the Grievance Committee are part of the team.

International Union
Local 2324 is just one of many UAW Locals in New England (Region 9A of the UAW). Region 9A Offices are located at 111 South Road, Farmington, CT 06032. Bob Madore is Region 9A Director and sits on the International Executive Board. He is elected by local delegates at the Constitutional Convention which is held every four years. Bob Madore selects his own staff which includes Assistant Director Julie Kushner. The International Field Service Representative assigned to Local 2324 is Dan Mastropietro. The UAW maintains a Sub-Regional Office located at 960 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA 02021. Ann Carol Knox is the Sub-Regional Director. The international staff is available to help with grievances, contract negotiations, arbitrations, research needs and trainings when necessary. |
